Dandadan is one of the most popular anime on the air at the moment. Its characters have quickly become cosplay favorites, thanks to their eccentric designs, bold personalities and the anime's wild mix of supernatural and sci-fi elements. From the quirky but stylish Okarun to the bold and fearless Momo Ayase, fans are bringing these characters to life with impressive creativity.
Momo Ayase is the ultimate favorite among cosplayers, with various interpretations that capture her confident and expressive personality. Her cosplay consists of a classic school uniform, with a light pink sweater over a white T-shirt and a casual-looking loose bow. She wears a navy blue pleated skirt, the standard component of the school uniform. Her simple look is completed with baggy white socks and brown loafers. Momo Ayase's most recognizable accessory is her black choker that she wears with a green circular object on the back and a pair of matching green earrings, in almost all of her outfits. Momo has worn countless outfits in the anime, but her main appearance is that of a classic high school student.
In Dandadan, Ken, also known as Okarun, has a shy nature and dramatic transformations, making his cosplays highly memorable. He has two forms: his standard student appearance and the other in the possessed form of Turbo Granny. As a teenager obsessed with the occult, his standard attire is a typical Japanese uniform or gakuran. He wears a black blazer-style jacket with a stand-up collar. He also combines black pants with a white T-shirt underneath. As for his hair and glasses, he wears round glasses and at first has a bowl cut. In his possessed form, Ken looks terrifying with a skeletal smile hiding his mouth and abnormally long arms. His hair turns white and his eyes glow red with lines. With this transformation he not only changes physically, but also gains incredible speed.
Turbo Granny is a cruel yokai (spirit) known for his immense speed. After losing a race against Okarun, she cursed and possessed him. Defeated by Momo and her grandmother, Seiko, Turbo Granny was sealed away. In her main form, she is a wrinkled old woman with messy white hair and sharp teeth, capable of possessing her victims. In her other form, she is a Lucky Cat Doll, ironically bestowing good luck on herself and those around her. Turbo Granny wears simple traditional Japanese clothing called Yukata, similar to a kimono but made of lighter fabric. Her Yukata is simple, in contrast to her demonic nature, characterized by bright yellow eyes, white hair and sharp teeth.
Aira Shiratori is one of the most popular characters in Dandadan. She is popular but arrogant, and a manipulative student who eventually teams up with Momo and Okarun to defeat demons. She usually wears the typical school uniform, but after a near-fatal encounter with Acrobatic Silky, Aira inherits the yokai's powers and gains a transformation. In this transformed state, Aira wears the regular school uniform, except that it becomes body-tight, and she possesses a face mask that resembles the Acrobatic Silky yokai. Her hair also becomes super long, which helps her stretch to catch her opponents during battles.
Jin Enjoji or Jiji is an attractive high school student who is also Momo's childhood friend. His transformation form is known as Evil Eye in the anime. He is a powerful and vengeful yokai. He was once a child sacrificed by a cult-like family and died a horrible death. This trauma and rage transformed him into a curse that motivates people to harm themselves. When Jiji is possessed by the Evil Eye, his appearance changes drastically. His attire is rooted in his traumatic past. The spirit, as a child, wore fundoshi (Japanese loincloth) when he was sacrificed, which explains his preference for walking around in his underwear.
Seiko Ayase is definitely one of Dandadan's "waifu grandmothers". She is the grandmother of Momo Ayase, an infamous spirit medium with a surprisingly youthful and attractive appearance. Despite her age, she is a great fighter with supernatural abilities. One of her most common outfits consists of a modern, layered yet practical look that shows off her casual confidence. Seiko Ayase wears a blue baseball jacket with white sleeves and some symbols on the back. Underneath, she wears a yellow, loose-fitting cardigan that she usually wears open. She also wears a top with crossed straps underneath the cardigan that highlights her athletic figure. On top, she wears a black scarf around her neck. Her look is completed with medium-rimmed rectangular red glasses and her long white hair pulled back in a large high bun.
Kinta Sakata is one of the most insecure characters in Dandadan despite being very intelligent. He disguises his insecurities with bragging and dreams of impressing girls, but his real passion is mecha and science fiction. Later, Kinta becomes an important part of the group after discovering the alien "nanoskin" technology. As for his attire, he normally wears the Japanese school uniform gakuran. Outside of school, he wears casual clothes.
Vamola is one of the last survivors of the Sumerian race, who fled to Earth after the destruction of their home planet. At first she appears as an enemy, but later becomes a trusted ally. Her physical form is very similar to that of a human, with short blonde hair and green eyes with star-shaped reflections. One of her most recognizable features is the small antenna attached to her head. She wears a kaiju exoskeleton known as the "kur exosuit", which can change size, become invisible and has a lethal combat mode.
The Serpo are an all-male race from a planet called Serpo. They kidnap humans to steal their reproductive organs due to their cloning-based reproduction. They are highly intellectual, use psychic powers and appear as terrifying villains interested in Okarun's abilities. As for their attire, the Alien Serpo pose as humans to blend in on Earth. This consists of a pale male face with a wide haunting smile, gray pants and a button-down shirt paired with brown shoes.
