The word <strong>OTACOOL<\/strong> is an acronym for <em>\"otaku\"<\/em> y <em>\"cool\"<\/em>and perfectly sums up the mission of the books: <strong>demonstrate that being otaku can also be modern, creative and culturally valuable.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series was curated and promoted by <strong>Danny Choo<\/strong>British blogger based in Japan and an influential figure in the dissemination of otaku culture abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Otacool_1_Worldwide_Otaku_Rooms\"><\/span>Otacool 1: Worldwide Otaku Rooms<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first volume of the series (<em>Otacool 1<\/em>) focuses on the <strong>otaku rooms around the world<\/strong>. It was launched in <strong>2009<\/strong> and caused a sensation for its original proposal: fans from different countries sent photos of their rooms full of manga, figures, posters, consoles, desks and geek decorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFQue_lo_hizo_especial\"><\/span>What made it special?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He broke the stereotype of the \"shut-in Japanese otaku\".<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It showed that otaku collecting and passion existed in places like Germany, the United States, Mexico, Brazil and more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It inspired thousands of fans to decorate and share their own spaces in forums such as <strong>MyFigureCollection<\/strong>, <strong>4chan<\/strong>and later <strong>Reddit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It was more than a book: it was a global window into a way of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Otacool_2_Worldwide_Cosplayers\"><\/span> Otacool 2: Worldwide Cosplayers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The second volume (<em>Otacool 2<\/em>published in 2010) took the vision even further by focusing on <strong>cosplayers from all over the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This volume included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High quality photos of professional and amateur cosplayers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brief profiles with information about the characters represented.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A visual, artistic and cultural approach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFPor_que_marco_un_antes_y_un_despues\"><\/span>Why did it mark a before and after?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It was the first Japanese book to make Western cosplayers visible in earnest.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It included figures that would later become legendary in the world of cosplay, such as. <strong>Linda Le (Vampy Bit Me)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It served as a platform for many cosplayers to be invited to international conventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Otacool 2 helped <strong>legitimizing cosplay as an international art form and expression<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Otacool_3_Worldwide_Illustrators\"><\/span>Otacool 3: Worldwide Illustrators<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The third volume focused on <strong>digital artists and fanart artists from around the world<\/strong>. It was a symbol of openness, diversity and recognition. It showed the world that fans of anime, manga, video games and cosplay exist in every corner of the globe, and that they deserve a place in the Japanese cultural narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a time when the globalization of anime was still in its infancy, <strong>Kotobukiya and Danny Choo helped to build a real bridge between Japan and the millions of fans waiting to be
