Platform and sign-up
The basics before you create your account. If you’d rather go step by step, our guide to how OtakuOshi works walks you through everything.
OtakuOshi is a subscription platform for creators of otaku and Japanese pop culture. Cosplayers, illustrators, manga artists, fanfic writers, voice artists, prop makers and animators post their work for their fans. Fans unlock exclusive content with a monthly subscription or one-time purchases, and the money goes straight to the creator. If you plan to post, the page for creators sums up what the platform offers; for the full picture, see how it works.
Yes. A fan account is free, and so is browsing the catalog, checking out profiles and viewing each creator’s public posts. You only pay when you decide to subscribe to someone or buy a specific post. Creator accounts are free too: OtakuOshi takes a commission on what you earn, not a sign-up fee.
Any adult can sign up as a fan or a creator, wherever they live. The Terms of Service set the minimum age at 18. On top of that, R-15 and R-18 content only shows up after the matching age verification, and anyone posting R-18 completes an additional identity check under 18 U.S.C. § 2257 recordkeeping rules.
OtakuOshi runs as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Open it in your phone or tablet browser and, if you like, add it to your home screen to use it like any other app, no app store required. The layout adapts to any screen size. Platform updates are posted on the OtakuOshi blog.
Whichever one you want. Creators post in English, Spanish, Japanese or any other language with no restrictions, and fans come from many countries. Posting in a less widely spoken language doesn’t affect your visibility or how your content is treated.
The catalog is organized into 9 main categories: cosplay, manga illustration, manga and doujinshi, animation and motion, ASMR and voice, tutorials and making-of, 3D and VRoid avatars, R-15 content and R-18 content. You’ll find them all on the content page.
For fans
Subscriptions, purchases and downloads, explained for everyone who backs their favorite creators. You’ll find more answers in the Help Center.
Go to the creator’s profile, pick the subscription tier that suits you and complete checkout. You get access to the exclusive content right away, and the subscription renews automatically every month. You can cancel anytime from your fan dashboard and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Yes. Many creators offer pay-per-view posts that you unlock with a one-time payment, no monthly subscription needed. You can also send paid messages and tips. Check how each option works before you decide.
Discreetly. Every transaction uses a generic billing descriptor, so your bank statement never mentions the type of content you bought. Our security page explains this in more detail.
Yes, from your fan dashboard, no questions asked. After you cancel, you can still see the creator’s content until the end of the paid period, and you won’t be charged again after that. The exact terms are in the Fan-Creator Agreement.
Yes, when the creator allows it. Many offer direct downloads of photos, PDFs, audio, videos or 3D models. Anything you download is for personal use only: the Terms of Service restrict redistributing it, reselling it or using it to train AI models.
If you think a charge is wrong or the content doesn’t match what was advertised, file a “Refund request” on the complaints page. Include the payment details (date, amount, creator and item) and the reason. Each case is reviewed individually under the Fan-Creator Agreement. If it’s your first time, the Help Center walks you through it.

You’re paid out on a regular schedule through the international payout methods you set up in your creator profile. Timing, minimum amounts and options depend on what you choose on the payouts page. If a payment gets stuck, message us from the contact page and we’ll look into it.
Original or derivative work tied to otaku and Japanese pop culture, such as cosplay, illustration, manga and doujinshi, animation, ASMR, tutorials, 3D modeling, fanfiction, fan art or props. Everything you post has to follow the Publishing Principles, the Ethics Policy and the Terms of Service. All 9 categories are listed on the content page.
You can earn through monthly subscriptions with multiple tiers, pay-per-view posts, paid messages, tips, livestreams, custom commissions and the affiliate program. Content and ratings
Age ratings, verification and posting rules. It all starts with the Publishing Principles.
OtakuOshi uses three levels: all ages (SFW, suitable for everyone), R-15 (suggestive content for ages 15 and up) and R-18 (explicit adult content for ages 18 and up). You need to pass age verification to view R-15 or R-18 content. Each creator rates their own posts using the criteria in the Publishing Principles.
R-15 content plays with suggestion: poses, outfits, composition and lighting that create a sensual mood without showing anything explicit. R-18 is adult content for ages 18 and up and includes nudity and explicit erotica. The line between the two is drawn with specific criteria in the Publishing Principles.
OtakuOshi is a platform for human creators, so you can’t pass off AI-generated content as your own work. If you use AI tools at any point in your process, you have to disclose it clearly. Deepfakes and AI content that uses another person’s likeness, voice or identity aren’t allowed either. The Ethics Policy covers this in detail.
You can’t sexualize minors or childlike-looking characters, depict sexual coercion or violence, post degrading content, upload AI-generated content without disclosing it, plagiarize, or share any material that breaks applicable law. These rules are set out in the Ethics Policy, the Publishing Principles and the Terms of Service.
R-15 and R-18 content is kept separate from the general catalog and is only visible to people who have completed the matching age verification. R-18 creators verify their identity under 18 U.S.C. § 2257. Sexualizing minors is banned across the entire platform, and OtakuOshi has zero tolerance for any content that puts them at risk. Reports of this kind get top priority under the Active Response Policy.
Yes. Fan art, fanfiction, doujinshi, character cosplay and other derivative works all have a place here, in the spirit of Japan’s doujin tradition. When you post, you mark the work as original or derivative, and you’re responsible for following the Terms of Service.
Payments and billing
How you pay as a fan and how you get paid as a creator. For percentages and timing, see the payouts page.
You can pay by credit or debit card through international payment processors. There’s also a built-in digital wallet that you top up and use for any transaction. On your statement, charges appear under a discreet descriptor.
Some banks charge foreign transaction or currency conversion fees. That fee comes from your card issuer, not from OtakuOshi. If it happens often, topping up your digital wallet in one go cuts down the number of bank charges.
It’s an in-platform balance you load with your card and spend on subscriptions, purchases, tips and paid messages. It helps you keep track of your spending and avoid lots of small charges on your bank account, and you can set daily spending limits too. The Help Center has a step-by-step guide.
It depends on the payout method you’ve set up and on your country. You’ll find the schedule and minimum amounts under creator payout timing. If a payment is late, check the usual causes in the Help Center or reach support through the contact page.
Safety and reporting
How to protect your account, report a problem and exercise your rights. For anything that needs follow-up, use the complaints page.
File a formal report on the complaints page. Choose the right category (inappropriate content, harassment, impersonation, plagiarism and so on) and describe what happened in as much detail as you can, with links if you have them. Anything involving illegal content or a risk to someone’s safety gets top priority under the Active Response Policy.
File a complaint on the complaints page under “Stolen or leaked content (DMCA).” Include the URL where your content appears and the original post on OtakuOshi. If the copy is off-platform, the team can handle the DMCA takedown request on your behalf. OtakuOshi treats unauthorized redistribution as a serious violation.
It depends on the priority your case is given. Urgent cases, such as risk to minors, active impersonation or non-consensual sharing of intimate content, are acknowledged within 6 hours at most, with first actions within 12. Everything else is acknowledged within 24 to 72 hours, depending on severity. The Active Response Policy lists every timeframe by priority level.
Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA), use a strong, unique password, never share your login details and be wary of suspicious links. If you think someone has gotten into your account, change your password immediately and let support know through the contact page. You’ll find more tips on our security page.
You can exercise your rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection at any time. Send your request through the contact page with “GDPR” in the subject line, along with your full name and the email tied to your account, or write to the address listed in the Privacy Policy. We handle requests within the timeframes required by law.
Yes, every moderation decision can be appealed. Submit your appeal on the complaints page by choosing “Appeal of suspension or deactivation,” explain your case and attach any evidence you have. Someone other than the person who made the original decision reviews it and gets back to you within the published timeframes.
