Newsletter

The otaku newsletter from OtakuOshi

Sign up to our otaku newsletter and your inbox gets a regular round-up: artists worth following, what’s just dropped, collab calls, changes to the platform and a few treats reserved for readers. We don’t do spam, and we don’t carry ads from anyone else, only the stuff otaku fans and makers really want to hear about.

Why sign up to the otaku newsletter?

It’s the most direct way we have of talking to our community. Forget faceless corporate bulletins: a real person chooses what goes in, with fans and creators in mind. Expect rising names to keep an eye on, recent catalogue additions, calls for anthology and group-project contributors, news from the platform and bits you’ll only get by being on the list.

Your address stays with us and is never sold. Mailings carry no outside advertising and no junk, and we only hit send when we’ve got something worth reading, rather than to tick a box on a calendar. Fancy leaving? There’s a one-click unsubscribe at the foot of every email.

What lands in your inbox

Each edition aims to give something to the people who make and the people who follow.

⭐

Featured creators

Spotlights on mangaka, cosplayers, photographers, voice performers, illustrators and others producing standout work here. Our choices come down to craft, not to whatever a ranking system happens to favour, which means you’ll probably meet artists you wouldn’t otherwise have found.

🆕

New in the catalogue

Recent uploads of every kind: manga chapters, shoots, art series, guides, audio and video. Everything is sorted by category so you can jump to your corner of fandom without scrolling through the lot.

📢

Open calls and collabs

Group projects, anthologies, themed events and other opportunities to create alongside other artists. If you create on OtakuOshi, it’s the easiest way to spot projects you can join.

🔧

Platform updates

Fresh features, usability tweaks, revised policies and changes to billing. We’ll tell you straight how OtakuOshi is changing.

🎁

Subscriber-only extras

Reader-only material such as Q&As with artists, glimpses of the team at work, sneak peeks at upcoming features, the occasional discount and now and then a surprise from a creator we’re working with.

📅

Events and dates for the diary

Highlights from the otaku calendar, from conventions like MCM London Comic Con or Comiket to Japanese matsuri, as well as creators’ scheduled livestreams, release dates for much-anticipated projects and submission deadlines for open calls.

For fans

If you already back creators here, the newsletter widens your net, introducing artists outside your usual bubble, flagging launches you might otherwise scroll past and sharing extras that never appear on the site itself. It works alongside the alerts you get from the creators you subscribe to rather than replacing them. Their notifications cover your own subscriptions; we cover the bigger picture across the whole community. For the complete range, head over to the otaku content catalogue.

For creators

Creators on OtakuOshi get another shot at exposure through the otaku newsletter. Post good work regularly and you might be selected for a spotlight, putting your profile in front of every reader on the list. We also announce collab calls and themed events here before anywhere else. Looking to grow? Point your followers towards the sign-up box. Not on the platform yet? Privacy and how often we write

The address you give us has one purpose, delivering the OtakuOshi newsletter. We won’t hand it to anyone else or use it for advertising, and we process it in accordance with the GDPR and our privacy policy.

Timing follows the news rather than a fixed schedule. In practice that means somewhere between two and four mailings each month, and that’s the ceiling. An unsubscribe link sits in every message and takes effect with one click, no form to fill in and no notice period. Leave, and your address is erased from the list permanently; you can rejoin right here whenever you like.

Newsletter FAQs

Quick answers to what people usually want to know before joining OtakuOshi’s otaku newsletter.

Entirely. You just need an email address; there’s no requirement to register on the platform or to pay for any creator’s subscription.

Between two and four a month, and never more. Every issue is curated, so you won’t be flooded with daily messages.

Very. Click the unsubscribe link found in any mailing and you’re off the list there and then, without forms or waiting. We delete your address for good, and should you miss us, rejoining takes seconds.

Never. It’s kept solely for sending this newsletter, not passed to partners or other companies and not used for external ads. We handle it in line with the GDPR and our privacy policy.

There’s no need. Newsletter sign-up is independent of membership, so your email alone will do, even without an account on fans.otakuoshi.com. Register later and you’ll stay on the list just the same.

Spotlights can’t be bought; we choose them based on how good and how consistent a creator’s output is. Keep sharing quality work on a regular basis and your turn may come. Got a launch or project our readers ought to hear about? Let us know through the contact page.

No, every issue is safe for all ages. If an R-15 or R-18 creator gets a mention, we simply link to their platform profile; explicit images or previews never appear in the email.

Look in your junk or spam folder first. Not there? You may not have confirmed: we send a confirmation email straight after sign-up, and you’ll need to click the link inside. If that doesn’t solve it, visit the help centre or write to us via the contact page.
