About OtakuOshi
A quick read about OtakuOshi, the members’ platform we built specifically so otaku artists can be paid by the people who love their stuff. Read on for the idea, who it’s for, the company behind it and the quickest ways to get hold of us.
So what is OtakuOshi?
In a sentence, OtakuOshi is subscription publishing for anime, manga and cosplay makers. Mangaka, crafters, cosplayers, animators, voice talent, digital artists and illustrators set up shop here, and supporters pay them directly for what they make.
The mechanics are refreshingly simple. You upload members-only work (say a photoshoot, hi-res artwork, a run of manga or doujinshi chapters, an ASMR recording, a how-to, a prop build or a 3D file), and supporters sign up to the profiles that catch their eye. Subscription money heads to you. Nobody’s feed ranking buries your uploads, and there’s no agency in the middle muddying things between you and your followers.
Our members are spread across many countries, so you post in the language you’re comfortable with. Behind the scenes we take payments in several currencies and give you a dashboard for uploads, subscriber management, DMs and analytics, which means less paperwork and more drawing, sewing or recording. Our principles
Six commitments guide what we build, the rules we write and the way we deal with people. Curious about OtakuOshi before you register? Start here, since every commitment links through to the document where it’s set down in detail.
Made for otaku, full stop
We’re not a catch-all site that happens to tolerate anime. Search, categories, layout and tooling were shaped around what this scene genuinely produces, like serialised manga, ASMR, photo sets, 3D files and asset bundles.
Your money, paid to you
Pricing is entirely up to you, and each month you’re paid what your subscriptions bring in. Card processing, currency conversion and transfers to wherever you’re based are handled for you, with no hidden layers taking a slice. Read payouts and payments for creators for every detail.
Protection for everyone
Identity checks for adult creators, age verification for members, encrypted transactions, careful handling of personal information and tight regulatory compliance. See our security page and privacy policy for the specifics.
Everyone welcome
Whatever your background, art style, gender or orientation, if your work belongs to otaku culture it belongs here. There’s no single right way to be creative, as our diversity policy makes clear.
Nothing hidden
Our rulebook is public, jargon-free and enforced evenly. Read the terms of service, our ethics policy, the fan-creator agreement or our publishing principles whenever you like. Mistakes happen, and the corrections policy describes how we fix ours.
We see things through
Every reported issue gets a deadline and is followed up until it’s resolved. Forget lost tickets or robotic auto-replies. Our active response policy lists the exact timescales.
Who OtakuOshi is for
Two kinds of people, and each needs the other. There are creators, who produce otaku work and would like it to pay. And there are fans, who want something better than what’s free on social media and are happy to fund the artists behind it.
Creators pick from the full range of categories: cosplay, illustration, fan art, manga and doujin, animation, ASMR and character voice, tutorials, 3D and VRoid avatars, plus props and crafting. Age-gated R-15 and R-18 material is possible too, but only behind verification. You choose the subject matter, the price and the posting rhythm. Registration is free, nobody locks you in and there are no standing charges; our creators page walks you through the first steps.
Fans pay monthly to open up a creator’s full members’ area. On top of downloads in proper quality, some creators add DMs, made-to-order commissions, first dibs on new drops or votes on what comes next; it varies from profile to profile. The bond works both ways, like the one between an oshi, your number one, and their shiensha, the supporter cheering them on. That pairing gave us our name, and our brand page explains it in more depth.
The company behind it
Behind OtakuOshi sits Polaris Nexus LLC, whose registered address is 1621 Central Ave, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001, USA. Polaris Nexus handles the servers and tech stack, card processing, legal obligations and the help desk. The company exists for a specific reason: to make publishing and earning tools that treat artists’ work with respect and meet the standards fans hold otaku culture to.
Between them, the people involved know digital product building, cross-currency payments, community management for creative groups and the ins and outs of Japanese fandom. So new features, interface decisions and content rules are always weighed up twice, once from an engineering point of view and once from a cultural one.
You can message us via our contact page or at hello@otakuoshi.com. Brands and organisers with an idea should try partnerships, reporters have a dedicated press area, and anyone flagging an account issue or something that breaks the rules should go to complaints.

Not a penny. Registering, building your creator profile and posting are free, and there’s neither a subscription fee for you nor a minimum term. We earn a commission when money changes hands, but getting set up and using the tools won’t cost you. See payouts and payments for the specifics.

No. Captions, bios and messages can be written in Japanese, Spanish, English or anything else. Since members sign up from all sorts of places, some creators write in two languages side by side to widen their audience.
We take payments internationally and transfer earnings to creators across the globe. You can choose from a handful of payout routes, a few of them suited to anyone who prefers to avoid a high-street bank. Each one is covered on payouts and payments for creators.
R-15 and R-18 work stays locked until a member completes age verification, and anyone publishing it must prove who they are. Payments are encrypted, and we comply with the US law 18 U.S.C. § 2257. Our ethics policy sets out the detailed rules.
