Acceptable Use Policy

OtakuOshi’s rules of use for creators, fans and anyone who accesses the platform. What you can do, what you cannot do, permitted technical use, restrictions on scraping and AI, commercial use of content and the consequences of non-compliance.

Purpose of this policy

This Acceptable Use Policy sets out the rules governing how you may use OtakuOshi: the web platform, published content, messaging systems, profiles, payment features and any service accessible through otakuoshi.com, fans.otakuoshi.com and otakuoshi.jp.

This policy applies to all users: fans, creators, content collaborators and visitors. It supplements the Terms of Service, the Ethics Policy and the Publishing Principles. In the event of a conflict between documents, the interpretation most protective of the affected individuals shall prevail.

General principle: use OtakuOshi in good faith, respect other users, do nothing that harms the platform or its community, and comply with applicable law. If you are unsure whether something is permitted, ask first through the contact page.

Reporting issues

Reporting technical errors, content that violates our policies, abusive behaviour, incorrect ratings and security vulnerabilities. Reports are handled in accordance with the Active Response Policy. Reporting in good faith will never be penalised.

Prohibited use: content and conduct

The following activities are prohibited on OtakuOshi. Violations are penalised in accordance with the Terms of Service and the Active Response Policy.

Content that sexualises minors: absolute prohibition. Real people and fictional characters who appear to be minors. Any format. Zero tolerance: immediate removal, permanent suspension, referral to the authorities.

Non-consensual content: publishing images, videos, audio or any content showing real people without their explicit consent. This includes revenge porn, hidden-camera recordings, leaked intimate content and unauthorised distribution of private material.

Deepfakes and manipulation: generating, publishing or distributing content that uses AI or manipulation software to simulate the appearance, voice or performance of a real person without their consent.

Harassment and abuse: harassment, threats, intimidation, doxxing, stalking, unsolicited sexual messages, smear campaigns, repeated insults and any conduct that a reasonable adult would consider abusive.

Hate speech: content whose purpose is to incite hatred, violence or discrimination on the basis of origin, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability or any other status.

Fraud and impersonation: impersonating another person or entity, creating fake accounts, publishing misleading information, scams, phishing and any conduct designed to deceive other users.

Deliberate misrating: publishing adult content rated as suitable for all ages, or intentionally under-rating the level of content to evade verification filters.

Prohibited use: technical and commercial

Scraping and bulk extraction: using bots, scrapers, crawlers, bulk-download tools or any automated method to extract content, data, metadata, images, profiles or any other information from the platform is prohibited. This includes systematic manual extraction (for example, downloading a creator’s entire catalogue in order to redistribute it).

AI training: using any OtakuOshi content (images, text, audio, video, metadata) to train artificial intelligence models, generative adversarial networks (GANs), diffusion models, language models or any machine learning system is expressly prohibited. This prohibition applies regardless of who carries it out: users, third parties, companies, researchers or bots.

Redistribution and resale: redistributing, reselling, posting on other platforms, sharing on forums, uploading to piracy sites or otherwise making available to third parties any content acquired on OtakuOshi is prohibited. Content is licensed for personal, non-transferable use.

Unauthorised commercial use: using OtakuOshi content for commercial purposes (merchandise, streaming, advertising, commercial portfolios) without an extended licence or the creator’s express authorisation. Commercial use of the platform’s brand, logo or screenshots requires authorisation from Polaris Nexus LLC.

Interference with the platform: attempting to access systems, accounts or data without authorisation; exploiting vulnerabilities without following the responsible disclosure protocol; injecting malicious code; carrying out denial-of-service attacks; manipulating metrics (fake followers, likes or comments); creating multiple accounts to evade sanctions.

Circumventing security measures: bypassing access restrictions, age verification systems, content blocks, watermarks, anti-scraping measures or any other security measure implemented by the platform.

Use of purchased content

When a fan purchases or accesses content through a subscription, they receive a personal use licence. It is important to understand what this licence does and does not allow:

You may: view the content on your devices, save it for your private enjoyment, print it for personal use (for example, a print to decorate your room), use it as a wallpaper and collect it digitally.

You may not: share it with other people (whether free or paid), upload it to other platforms or social media, post it on forums or in groups, use it in commercial streams or videos, sell it, include it in merchandise, use it to create derivative works without the creator’s permission or use it to train AI models.

Extended licence: if you need a use that goes beyond the personal licence (for example, use in a commercial stream, in merchandise or in an editorial publication), contact the creator directly to negotiate an extended licence or a specific commission.

Consequences of non-compliance

Violations of this policy are classified and penalised in accordance with the Terms of Service:

Minor violations (first offence, low impact): a written warning identifying the violating conduct and a deadline to correct it. Example: an isolated inappropriate comment, incorrect metadata entered by mistake.

Serious violations (significant impact or repeat offence): removal of the violating content, a formal warning recorded in the account history and possible temporary restriction of features. Example: deliberate misrating, redistribution of content.

Very serious violations (protection of individuals, illegality): immediate suspension of the account (temporary or permanent), removal of all affected content, withholding of pending payments until resolution, and, where applicable, referral to the competent authorities. Example: content involving minors, non-consensual content, deepfakes, bulk scraping for AI training.

In all cases, the user is notified of the reason and has the right to appeal within 20 days in accordance with the Active Response Policy.

Yes. The personal use licence includes printing for private use: decorating your room, personal collecting, wallpapers. What you may not do is sell those prints, include them in merchandise or use them for commercial purposes without the creator’s authorisation.

Not under the standard licence, since streaming is a commercial or public use. If you want to show a creator’s content on a stream, contact the creator directly to negotiate an extended licence or specific authorisation.

No. Scraping is prohibited regardless of purpose, including academic research. If you need aggregated or anonymised data for a legitimate research project, get in touch through the contact page telling us about your project and we will consider a collaboration.

No, unless expressly authorised. Each person may have only one account. Creating multiple accounts to evade sanctions, manipulate metrics or for any other purpose results in permanent suspension of all accounts involved.
